3M protective sealants are ideal for applications on rocker panels, and the front and rear of car bodies. They can be used to restore the original appearance of existing seals on certain car models, particularly at the joints between overlapping sheet metal or in the welds of engine compartments, trunks, passenger compartments, and wheel arches. Once the two components are mixed, the product can be sprayed using the 3M 08996 applicator. Alternatively, the 3M 08987 spray kit can be used. Once dry, 3M protective sealants provide a coating with excellent soundproofing properties and outstanding protection against rust and stone chips. They adhere perfectly to unpainted metal, body filler, and paint. They can be overpainted and oven-cured at a maximum temperature of 60°C. To achieve different finishes, they can be diluted with polyurethane solvent up to a maximum of 5% by weight.
