3M protective sealants are ideal for applications on rocker panels, front and rear bodywork. They can be used to restore the original appearance of existing seals on certain car models, particularly in overlapping sheet metal joints or welds in engine compartments, trunks, interiors, and wheel arches. Once the two components are mixed, the product can be sprayed using the 3M 08996 applicator. Alternatively, the 3M 08987 spray gun kit can be used. Once dry, 3M protective sealants provide a coating with excellent sound-damping properties and outstanding protection against rust and stone chips. They adhere perfectly to unpainted metal, body filler, and paint. They can be overpainted and oven-baked at a maximum temperature of 60 °C. To achieve different finishes, they can be diluted with polyurethane thinner up to a maximum of 5% by weight.
