3M protective sealants are ideal for applications on rocker panels, front and rear body parts. They can be used to restore the original appearance of seals on some car models, particularly in joints between overlapping metal sheets or in welds in engine compartments, trunks, passenger compartments, and wheel arches. Once the two components are mixed, the product can be sprayed using the 3M 08996 applicator. Alternatively, the 3M 08987 spray kit can be used. Once dry, 3M protective sealants provide a coating with excellent soundproofing properties and excellent protection against rust and chipping. They adhere perfectly to unpainted metal, body filler, and paint. They can be overpainted and baked at a maximum temperature of 60 °C. To achieve different finishes, they can be diluted with polyurethane solvent up to a maximum of 5% by weight.
